MR GAVEUP - 'LOVESICK' SINGLE
Motion Graphics, Sequencing, Tracking, Social Media Content & Ads
MR GAVEUP is an independent artist who chooses to remain anonymous, using digital art and visual manipulation to conceal his identity rather than relying on traditional masks or face coverings.
“How To Be Alone” is MR GAVEUP’s debut EP, featuring five singles, each exploring a different visual interpretation of anonymity.
“Lovesick” was the first single released from the EP. For this release, I was asked to create short-form video content for social media, as well as a social media advertisement to support the release.

Social Media Announcement
For this project, I was asked to create a short-form video announcing the release of “Lovesick.” The visualizer for the single was shot in black and white, which immediately made me think of old film and vintage television. This is where the stack of old televisions came in. I wanted to build on that feeling by using a stack of old TVs as the setting for the announcement.
From there, I created the clips that would go within each of the stacked televisions and used clipping masks to make the footage appear as though it was actually playing on the screens.
Social Media Content
Following the announcement, we knew we had to keep posting. After coming up with many ideas and creating many videos, these really stuck out to us.
We shot a ‘Say Anything’-like scene thru a Ring camera at night, which gave the videos a creepy feel. The black and white made it feel cohesive with the overall ‘Lovesick’ world.
Instead of blurring his face like the visualizer, we used a glow to conceal it and also to catch people’s attention. The glow ended up becoming more than just an effect for these videos. It actually became a visual element carried through into other parts of the EP, helping tie the different releases together.
Social Media Advertisement
For this project – I was asked to create a video that was run as an advertisement on social media. I manipulated and sequenced clips from the visualizer, then added the necessary text. Finally, I added effects to the text to tie everything together and create a cohesive final video.
